Carnival of Venice
Venice is a city full of iconic features, from St. Mark’s Basilica and the Doges’ Palace to the Rialto Bridge… and there are also sever cultural icons that have contributed to build up the identity of this city. One of them is obviously the Venice Carnival!Â
The Venice Carnival is deeply rooted in history; it used to be, and to some extent still is today, a lifestyle.Â
It is not just about wearing masks and throwing confetti: it is also about the historical parades, the masquerades, the typical goodies like Frittelle and Galani, the formal balls in fascinating palazzos and dancing or playing in the Venetian campos.Â
Skilled artisans still work to recreate every year the magic of the Carnival: from papier-mâché masks, to amazing renaissance costumes up to fabulous events. And original recipes, fashion, puppets, and a lot more, to delight both the elder and the younger.Â
Discover the secrets and the back stage of the Venice Carnival during our Live-in-Venice Week, to get into the heart of the Venetian culture.Â
