Scuola Dalmata dei SS. Giorgio e Trifone: a hidden treasure in Venice

Who is Scuola Dalmata dei SS. Giorgio e Trifone

Scuola Dalmata dei SS. Giorgio e Trifone is a real jewel almost hidden in the Venetian maze. It was founded over five hundred and fifty years ago by the Dalmatian community with devotional aims as well as for mutual support of its members.
The confraternity is still active nowadays, run, exactly like it was centuries ago, by a Grand Guardianand a Chancellery Council/

Description

We will visit the Scuola Dalmata dei SS. Giorgio e Trifone which represents a unique reality in the history of the city of Venice: it is an association of citizens of Dalmatian origins, who for over five centuries have continuously preserved timeless masterpieces and keep alive some traditions of the mother-earth, which survived the Serenissima itself. As a lot of other similar lay confraternities, the Dalmatians built eventually their own Scuola (i.e. school, although not in any educational sense, but as a place where to meet and discuss the needs of the community) and they decorated it with wonderful works of art, among which the fa pulpit canvases by Vittore Carpaccio representing St. George and the Dragon.
The con fraternity is still active nowadays, run, exactly like it was centuries ago, by a Grand Guardian and a Chancellery Council.
